The Red Abode – By Jagriti Sarda

post by Admin on June 9, 2026
In the bustling fabric of Balaji Nagar, Sangli, rises a residence that dares to be different. It is more than a built structure. It is a story of colour, geometry, and the quiet dialogue between nature and architecture.
Designed and led by Ar. Milind and Mrudula Kulkarni, founders of Aakar Group of Consultancy, The Red Abode is a dream home of an IT professional and his family. A home that blends tranquillity and inspiration.

From the street, the house makes an unmistakable statement, with its vibrant façade layered with bold primary hues and punctuated by terracotta jalis. Yet, from within, it hosts a deeply rooted Indian sensibility.
The terracotta screen, a motif from vernacular wisdom, does not merely decorate the façade, but allows the air to circulate, light to filter, and privacy to be preserved.

The bold geometric forms speak of progress and ambition. The terracotta jalis, meanwhile, whisper stories of cultural continuity and rootedness. Together, they embody the dual aspiration of the contemporary Indian home: to move forward without losing sight of where we come from.

Step inside, and it flows from open to semi-open, semi-open, from enclosed to expansive. Courtyards, balconies, and intermediate spaces weave in and out, blurring the distinction between interior and exterior.

Light pours in generously, ventilation becomes effortless, and every corner seems to invite a pause—a reminder of the tranquillity that the client so deeply desired.
In Sangli’s humble urban canvas, The Red Abode glows as a reminder that a house is not only about walls and roofs, but about relationships— between people and their spaces, between tradition and innovation, between city and nature.
And in that dialogue, architecture finds its truest voice.
